On February 7, 2026 the St. Justin’s church family gathered with many others to celebrate the life of Barbara Turner. She was well-loved by all. Her bright smile, kindness, and great generosity will be greatly missed.

Barbara was born on March 3, 1950, to James C. and Betty Williamson.

She was raised in Seagoville and attended Seagoville schools as well as The Hockaday School. Barbara later attended Trinity University in San Antonio, where she graduated in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Barbara married John Turner II on August 26, 1972. To this union, two children were born, John III and Sarah.

Barbara and John started their life together in Canton in 1976. Barbara was the office manager for Turner Clinic in Canton for many years and helped develop a community focused practice.

Philanthropy and service were deeply important to Barbara. Barbara was a longtime, loving and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Canton and then later St. Justin’s Episcopal Church in Canton.

She was active in her church and generously involved in her community, supporting organizations such as Blackwell House, Study Club, the Crawford House, the Women’s League, and many others.

Barbara enjoyed many hobbies, but she especially loved spending time tending to her gardens and flower beds.

Mrs. Turner is preceded in death by her parents, James and Betty Williamson; and a sister, Martha Hughes.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Dr. John Turner II of Canton; daughter, Sarah Brantley, and husband, Daniel Brantley, and their children: John and Olivia, of Canton; her son, John Turner III, and wife, Laurie, and their children: Colin, Patrick, Henry, and Jack, of Pennsylvania; her brother, Jim Williamson of South Carolina; and brother-in-law, Charles Hughes of South Carolina.
